Kevin James

Chief Executive Officer

Kevin is the Founder and Chief Executive of Global Carbon Exchange. He is also a director of the Carbon Protocol of SA, a section 21 company that provides a regulated framework for carbon accounting, neutrality and disclosure in SA and head of the adjudication panel for the Annual SA Climate Change Leadership Awards. He is a versatile speaker and expert on corporate sustainability issues and works with many of the largest corporations to derive tangible business value by integrating environmental sustainability strategies into their operations. Jeunesse Park

Non Executive Director 


Jeunesse has been the CEO, fundraiser and publicist, and is the founder, of the hugely successful public benefit organization Food & Trees for Africa, started in 1990. She was one of the first in South Africa to recognize the threats of climate change, lobby for action and implement carbon sinks. FTFA has distributed over 3. 2 million trees and helped to set up over 2 500 organic food gardens for the poorest in South Africa. Jeunesse launched the Carbon Standard in South Africa and has advised many government departments and corporations on environmental and climate change education, communications and marketing. In 1999, Jeunesse was acknowledged for her efforts in environmental conservation when she won the Mail and Guardian Green Trust Award for Established Environmentalists of South Africa. She has since won the Mail and Guardian Chairman's Award for Excellence, the Eskom Chairman's Award, the international Chevron Conservation Award, the Nelson Mandela Forestry Award, is a co-winner in the 2007 UNEP Sasakawa Climate Change Award and has recently won a USA Arbor Day Foundation Award.

Ohad Shachar

Sustainability Manager

Ohad heads up GCX's team of sustainable business analysts and he is responsible for the delivery of GCX's climate change response programme to clients.

Ohad has a background in biochemistry and has substantial experience in energy and GHG auditing.  He was the lead data analyst for the South African Cities State of Energy Report where he collected and analysed energy data for 15 South African local authorities. He spent a considerable amount of time in Edinburgh where he provided strategic support to local authorities, housing associations and SMEs in sustainable and efficient energy policy. He conducted carbon and ecological footprints for SMEs and housing associations, and developed and managed community energy projects in the area.

Anna Shevel

Education Manager

Driven by a pure passion for creating awareness around low-impact, sustainable living, Anna switched her career path from film and design to be "part of the solution" and now heads up the Education Department at GCX.

Anna has orchestrated the development of GCX's skills training courses and is responsible for new course development, face -to-face courses, and correspondence courses, all with the vital end goal of up-skilling the next generation of professionals to drive the rapidly growing global green job sector.

Ingrid Mech

Communication Manager

 

Ingrid Mech has worked with teams globally to realise their marketing communication, behavioural change management, community affairs and business strategies. Before joining GCX, she held management positions at some of the most innovative companies in the world. Her career progressed from academia to market research, through advertising, change management and strategic communication planning. She brings a wealth of experience to GCX. Ingrid has an Honours degree in Marketing and Communication from the University of Johannesburg and believes in lifelong learning. She believes in being at the cutting edge of information –and has completed various courses during her career, currently expanding her knowledge of Online Marketing at UCT. A keen artist, Ingrid particularly uses her photography to inspire change and create awareness of her passions – the planet, people and places.
