Climate Change Leadership Awards

The Climate Change Leadership Awards (CCLA) are the first awards in South Africa, and Africa; that recognize, reward, motivate and celebrate businesses, communities, youth, schools and individuals that are taking the lead through positive voluntary action; by implementing a range of activities to combat climate change. Global Carbon Exchange (GCX) also subscribes to the belief that leaders in the field of sustainability should be recognised for their efforts. GCX has therefore decided to sponsor a training course to the value of approximately R6500 for each category winner.

The Green Industry gains momentum in the Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape can expect a temperature increase of between 1.5% and 2.5% by 2050 the South African government announced in June. This information, along with the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP17) being hosted in Durban later this year and that the South African Climate Policy was approved on the 12th of October indicates that a spotlight will focus sharply on environmental affairs and climate change in the Eastern Cape.

SA Climate Policy paves the way for a low-carbon economy

Global Carbon Exchange (GCX) has welcomed the approval of the SA Climate Policy, expected to provide a roadmap for transformation towards a green economy. The company also supports the call for greater government funding towards sustainable research, development and capacity building; made by the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, during the approval of the policy last week.
